The 60th anniversary birthday gala and variety show honoring Marion’s city auditorium will be Saturday, Feb. 27. There is reserved seating only and a reception follows. Proceeds will be used for installation of air conditioning in the auditorium.

Marion County Emergency Medical Services Director JoAnn Knak gave first aid training Saturday to Boy Scouts of Troops 102 and 106. Scouts Gavin Shields, Anthony Clegg, Thomas Clegg, Justin Brookens, Matt Rhodes, Clayton Chamberland, Jared Kirkpatrick, and Andy Holt attended, along with adults Jackie Palic, Duane Kirkpatrick, Terry Holt, and Royce Penner.

G and J Country disc jockey service has added karaoke to its repertoire. Owner Gene Winkler has the karaoke disc player and special compact discs with more than 1,000 song selections.

Marion High School will hold its annual Queen and King of Courts ceremony Friday at halftime of the boys’ varsity basketball game. Queen candidates are Sara Cleeton, Renee Reiswig, and Shannon Hoffer. King candidates are Sean Slattery, Josh Tajchman, and Bert Conyers.

Centre High School students chose Michaela Polotto and Albert Jirak as winter homecoming queen and king Friday in ceremonies before the varsity games against Bennington.
