Commissioners of the City of Marion decided to “go for it” Monday after careful study of the feasibility report on construction of an electric generation plant and natural gas distribution system for the community. Mayor Max Hayen said that he had been notified by Hillsboro mayor Delores Dalke that they are not “completely out of the picture.”

Perry Steiner and his daughter Amanda of Marion suffered serious injuries Sunday in a two-car crash near Emporia. Both are in Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. They were listed Tuesday in critical condition, a hospital official said. Barbara Steiner was treated and released at Newman Hospital, Emporia.

Marion Elementary School first graders Tony Craig, Josh Gayle, Russell O’Neill and Emmali Kelsey are pictured as they pick up their trays of green eggs and ham Tuesday. Food supervisor Rhonda Hett arranged the colorful lunch in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

Dan and Linda Peterson are one of six Kansas couples recently named Master Farmer and Farm Homemakers. K-State Research and Extension and the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry recognize the Petersons for their success as a farm family.
