In the regular meeting of the city council Monday evening, the resignation of Sam Kleinhammer as city marshal was presented and accepted. J.R. Woolwine was appointed and confirmed as marshal for the unexpired term.

Orville Wright, of aeroplane fame who was badly hurt at Fort Myer last fall, has recovered from his injuries and will go to Paris and operate with his brother in aeroplane maneuvers.

Mr. Fred Lewis returned Tuesday evening for Topeka. Fred is a candidate for sergeant-at-arms of the Senate and here’s hopin’ he may succeed.

Christmas dinner menu at the New Elgin Hotel reads as follows: Oyster Cocktail, Mock Bisque Soup, Celery, Dill Pickles, Olives, Baked Young Turkey, Chestnut Dressing, Cranberry Jelly, Prime Ribs of Beef au Jus, Beef Tongue, Pig’s Feet, Mashed Potatoes, Peas a la Crème, Browned Sweet Potatoes, New String Beans, Waldorf Salad, Hot Cream Slaw, Boston Brown Bread, Wheat Bread, Mince Meat Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Delmonica Ice Cream, Fruit Cake. Dinner Hour 12:00 to 1:30. Price 35c. Everybody invited.

The Wheeler Furniture Co. insists on the payment of all accounts before Jan. 1st, as at that time there is to be a change in the firm.

The Governor and Mrs. Edward Wallis Hoch sent out invitations yesterday for the marriage of their daughter, Anna, to Mr. James Winfield Reid of Chanute, Friday, January first, at 7 o’clock in the evening at the governor’s house.
