Last Saturday evening, the city council held an adjourned session. One item decided was that automobile owners are required to have their machines numbered and registered by the city clerk and to carry red lights exposing the number of the machine.

The new sidewalk connecting with the Jex bridge on the west has been completed this week.

The county commissioners were in session Monday to go over plans for seven small steel-concrete reinforced bridges to be erected in the west part of the county. They also let a contract for lining the corridor of the jail with steel plates. When the plates are in place a prisoner cannot ooze his way through the walls as easy as heretofore.

Dr. C.C. Jones, John Powers, Mr. and Mrs. James Hoch, and L.F. Keller want over on Middle creek yesterday for a few days fishing.

Ray Smith’s little two-year-old son was badly scalded Monday morning. Mrs. Smith was busy with the family washing and the little fellow picked up a hammer. One of the things he pounded was the plug in the washing machine. This fell out and the hot suds struck the little fellow at the waist. Although the burns are severe, it is thought they were dressed in time to prevent scars.
