A county baseball league has been organized and the schedule of games for the season agreed upon. Florence, Hillsboro, Marion, and Peabody will be in the league. Each of the four towns is to make a guarantee deposit of $25 to ensure completion of the schedule. National League rules are to govern.
Dr. Coffman has been elected manager of the Marion baseball team in the county league. It is probable that a city league also will be formed and play one game a week.
Mrs. Arthur Martin has been appointed city clerk in place of Mrs. Roy Williams, who resigned to become deputy probate judge. Mrs. Martin is thoroughly competent and will make a very efficient and faithful official.
Notice is hereby served that chickens will have to be kept from running loose or they will be destroyed, in harmony with a city ordinance upon the subject.
In addition, considerable complaint has been made of violations of the ordinance against spitting on sidewalks. If it is necessary to arrest offenders in order to get this regulation observed, I am going to do it, and this notice is given that all may be duly informed.
