A splendid new Catholic Church under construction southwest of Marion in the Spring Branch neighborhood has been completed. Dedicatory services will be held Dec. 7. The church is known as the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
The Methodist Church at Aulne was destroyed by fire early Saturday morning. Origin of the fire is not known, but a defective flue seems the most plausible explanation.
The new city engine was hooked up to city pumps and to the commercial light load yesterday evening and appears to be performing in great shape. The engine, known as the Busch-Diesel, is certainly a thing of beauty. The engineers in charge will be E.F. Sheldon and Douglas Revo.
All of the churches will give a union Christmas musical at the Methodist Episcopal church Friday evening. Everyone is invited.
Mr. Reed, a representative of the “Big Four” movie film manufacturers, was here yesterday and completed arrangements with Harry Rogers for putting on a series of these big pictures at the Auditorium this winter.
The company is now putting on in smaller towns, such films as the “Rosary,” “Graustark,” and “The Juggernaut,” hitherto shown only in large cities. The list of those to be shown here will be announced soon.
