Many Marion people will doubtlessly go to Wichita next week to hear the great San Carlos Grand Opera company. Verdi’s massive and spectacular masterpiece, “Aida,” will be sung Friday evening by a cast of the foremost artists of the company. Other evenings will feature Verdi’s “Tales of Hoffman” and Gounod’s “Faust”
Dr. Wolf, a doctor from Virginia, has located at Aulne.
At 3 o’clock Sunday, Jan. 30, O’Bryant’s Orchestra with Scott Sheets as leader will give an hour’s entertainment at the County Farm. They will be assisted by Mrs. Matlock as reader and Miss Hall as vocalist. Friends and neighbors are invited.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Elliott entertained at 6 o’clock dinner yesterday in honor of their son Ralph’s 17th birthday anniversary, the guests being Homer Butcher, Elder Freeland, William Kellett, and Marion Pierce.
Major Fred Lewis went to Topeka yesterday. A number of others are expecting to attend Kansas Day gatherings there Saturday.
Governor Henderson Martin is to be home from the Philippines this summer to spend several months lecturing and defending the present administration of the islands.
