The Chingawassa Springs resort was formally opened for the summer season yesterday. Mrs. Calhoun has taken charge of the hotel and will keep the table supplied with the best the market affords. A number of families have already engaged rooms, and it looks now as if all the rooms in the house would soon be taken. Dr. F.H. Spencer will have office rooms in the hotel. Trains will run for the convenience of business men and others, so they can take meals out there.

Loveless and Sackett have one of the finest new delivery wagons ever brought to town (got it through Carter & Carter) but merchandise is no dearer on account of it.

S.P. Bown having purchased of R. Williams an interest in the Eclipse Livery, the new firm of Bown & Williams, realizing the necessity of a home market for horses and mules, has organized what will be known as the Eclipse Horse and Mule Market. They also propose to make a specialty of the livery business and will keep the best equipped livery stable in Marion county.

Some idea of the magnitude of the stock business done here may be had from the fact that one firm alone, Houser & Denmark, has shipped $55,000 worth of cattle since last October and hogs to almost an equal value. They shipped twenty carloads in ten days in April.
