Sherman, the popular barber, has had on exhibition in his shop for several days a beautiful night blooming cereus.

Until further notice, Dr. Coburn, the dentist, can be found at Dr. Hannaford’s office where he trusts his old and many new customers will follow him.

The Dody Brothers knocked the bottom out of the strawberry market last week with four large, full baskets for a quarter. By the way, they have a nice confection and ice cream stand west of the CV National Bank.

The Jex building was sold last week to Mr. John Sherratt and Mr. Harris Barnum, Illinois capitalists. These gentlemen already have extensive land interests in this county. They got this property ridiculously cheap—$7080, not more than one-half its value. The sale was effected through Mr. M.L. Wood, who by the way is one of the best men in town to work up trades of this kind, or for that matter to do any other business in his line of land, insurance, etc.

A team belonging to Jerry Forney was drowned in the Luta a few miles north of Marion Monday. Herbert Wheeler accompanied the driver, whose name we haven’t learned, across the creek which was much swollen by the recent rains. The team, young men and all were swept down the stream. The young men managed to swim out, but the horses drowned.
