Mr. I.H. Weimer left at this office Monday some of the finest plums we ever saw. They were nearly as large as an egg and delicious in flavor.

Our old friend, Peter Funk of Grant township, sustained a heavy loss last week. A stroke of lightning killed nine head of cattle for him.

A recent letter from Ed Nesbitt to a friend in Marion suggests an experience common to those who leave this garden of the universe. He says, “I made a mistake in leaving Kansas. I always had money when I was there.”
