Postmaster Lewis has almost completed the rounds of examination of Marion county post offices ordered by Postmaster General Wanamaker.
S.S. Brewerton has had his pension doubled and now gets $12 per month. G.W. Mitchell of Peabody worked the claim through for him.
Dr. C.C. Jones has gone east to take some finishing touches in dental instruction and in his absence, Dr Cone of Florence will spend every first and third week in his office.
About all the new sidewalks on Main street have been made to conform to the new grade, but we doubt that a single one that had to be taken up has been replaced with as good a one as the old one.
There will be a Republican rally at Elk, Chase county, Wednesday evening, at which H.A. Kerr and Thos. Dickerson will address the people.
Dr. Piper visited Gueda Springs last week and he says that while they beat our mineral resort in expensive facilities, our resort is walking right away from them in practical results and growth of patronage.
The plutocratic party is still getting in its work. Wm. Ainsworth, of Gale township, and Mr. Demmit, of Colfax, have each been placed on the pension list at $12 a month, the former getting arrears for 14 months at that rate and the latter arrears for 25 years at the rate of $24 a year. This is not a right good calamity item.
