Several weeks ago, we noticed the fact that Mr. Jex was cutting stone for a building in McPherson. In our rambles around the city Tuesday, we found Thos. Groat and Frank Bown busy cutting stone for another McPherson building.
If McPherson appreciates our splendid building stone enough to haul it 36 miles in wagons, will not the business grow to great dimensions when the railroad is completed?
A gentleman of good judgment, by no means given to extravagance, estimates the number of houses that will be built in Marion Centre this year at 200.
Muddy Creek bridge on Main St. has been undergoing a thorough overhauling this week, and travel has been greatly impeded. The old Moore ford has had to do duty again, but it’s a rough substitute for a bridge.
Muddy Creek bridge accommodates at least twice as much travel as any other bridge in the county, and we hope someday to see a good stone arch bridge spanning the creek nearer on a line with Main St. than the present structure.
