A union Sunday school celebration the second Saturday in September at Central Park, Marion Centre, will be for all Sunday schools in the Second Commissioner District. Bring your baskets well filled and let us have a good old-fashioned celebration.

A windmill has been erected at the sugar factory.

John Madden yields to the solicitation of his many friends and announces himself as a candidate for the office of county attorney. John is one of the boys who has grown up with the county and enjoys a large acquaintance. He will make a strong, manly race, and his opponents will have no time to sleep.

A gentleman requests us to suggest that there are still some weeds standing around town.

Dr. Hannaford evidently believes that the third time is the charm. Though he has lost two fine stallions in the past few years, he has just imported another fine Kentucky horse from the celebrated farm of Wm. T. Withers, Lexington. The following is the pedigree of this splendid gray colt, Altimo: Sired by Almont, the great sire of trotters; half-brother of Goldsmith Maid. Dam by Alexander’s Norman; sire of Lulu, May Queen, Blackwood, etc. Grand dam by Alexander’s Pilot, Jr.
