The Sabbath School picnic will be Sept. 11 in Central Park, Marion Centre. A procession will form at the Muddy Creek bridge at 9 a.m. and be led by band up Main St. to Cottonwood Valley Bank, thence back to Central Park. Exercises will open at 11 o’clock.
A 13-pound girl is all that ails Sam T. Howe at present.
The Methodists have finally decided to build a stone church. And it will be a good one.
Mr. Rugg began the manufacture of syrup this week, although his arrangements are not yet complete.
Pastor Gaasch brought us an ear of corn yesterday that is a mammoth production. It is 8½ inches in circumference, 12 inches in length, contains 18 rows of finely developed grains, and weighs more than two pounds.
Wagon load after wagon load of cane passes daily through town for the sugar factory, and if you don’t think things are booming over there, just go and see for yourself.
It manages to rain about every other day now. Rain is delaying wheat sowing, but we mustn’t grumble. Let it rain.
What has become of all those sidewalks advertised by the city council several weeks ago to be put down in front of lots whose owners failed to comply with the city’s sidewalk ordinance?
