We have had intimations that the character-killers of the opposition are holding back certain slanderous charges against some of the Republican nominees till just before election.
It is hard for me to believe it, for it occurs to us that the vocabulary of slang and the fountains of slander have already been exhausted, and it is hard to imagine what new meanness these men can conjure up.
Beware of campaign lies.
Tom Smith wants the individual who has borrowed or stolen his umbrella to return it.
Mrs. Tamiet has moved into the storeroom until recently occupied by Mr. Steiner, opposite the Record building, which she has fitted up handsomely and named the Ladies’ Bazaar.
She says she intends to have the finest millinery store in the county and sell cheaper than anyone else.
Call and see her in her handsome new quarters.
The brick work of the first brick building in Marion Centre, Dan Lindsay’s residence, is completed.
Mrs. Stanforth has opened a restaurant in the basement recently vacated by Mrs. Tamiet.
The new Evangelical church in Gale Township will be dedicated Sunday, Nov. 6, with appropriate ceremonies. Bishop Dubs will officiate. The public is cordially invited to be present.
The ladies of the Presbyterian church will have an oyster supper next Friday night at Rogers Hall. As this is the first oyster supper of the season, it will doubtless be liberally patronized. Don’t forget the time and place.
