Eby, the harness-maker and saddler, has now the largest stock of saddles, harnesses, bridles, horse blankets, carriage robes, whips, curry combs, genuine brushes, &c., in this part of the state.

He sells a good bridle for only $1, and everything else in proportion. He has the assistance of one of the best workmen in the west.

Those wanting anything in his line will do well to call on him before buying elsewhere.

A magic lantern man exhibited at the courthouse last Friday evening.

The new store in Florence is having a rushing trade. Cheap prices do that.

There will be given at Billings Park a dance and supper on Nov. 25. A cordial invitation is extended to all who trip the light fantastic toe. All those desiring to join the dancing class will be in attendance. Tickets, including supper, $2.

From Risley — The Cresswell Union Literary Society was re-organized Saturday evening the 13th. We had a short discussion on the propriety of changing the county lines. The judges decided that the affirmative had the best of it.

The question was, “Resolved, that we give our influence toward a division of Marion County, with Peabody for the county seat.” So, the Record and Gazette men may lay down their arms and live in peace.

The question for Saturday evening the 20th is thus stated: “Resolved, we abolish the system of free schools.” Come over, Mr. Editor, and see the free school system knocked higher than a kite. There are some terrible fellows in Risley.
