The winter edition of Kansas magazine lists a new business at Florence, Doyle Creek Mercantile, in the No. 2 spot of a section that regularly highlights unique sites, noteworthy attractions, businesses, and events across the state.
Winners of the Marion Halloween costume contest, pictured on the front page, are Shyla Harris, Mason Pedersen, Bryce Shults, Caleb Hett, Corin Parmley, Taydyn Lovelady, Chloe Burkholder, and Kristen Neufeld. Not pictured is Larry Zieammermann.
Torey Hett of Marion and Homer Spencer of Florence are pictured along with an article telling how Hett is hoping to become a park ranger while Spencer has his eyes on becoming a game warden.
Marion High School senior Bret Billings, junior Lucy Collett, sophomores Brooke Johnson and Brady Hodson, and other students are busy preparing for a fall musical, “Beauty and the Beast,” scheduled for Nov. 16, 17, and 18 at Marion City Building.
Marion City Library had its annual Halloween story time Oct. 26. Participating children included Kelly Soyez, Mackenzie Gormley, Lily Lundy, Blake Gormley, Tristen Armstrong, Jonathan Spachek, Devon Soyez, Hap Waddell, Ariana Armstrong, Kellan Huebner, and Anderson Waddell. Story time helper was Emma Spachek.
