Entries are being accepted for a Sugar Plum Christmas parade that will begin at 2 p.m. Nov. 25 in downtown Marion. After the parade, Santa Claus will make an appearance at his house in a lot next to Suffield’s.

Marion High School will perform the Disney classic “Beauty and the Beast” Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Marion City Auditorium. Leading parts will be played by Lucy Collett, Michael Kirkpatrick, Brady Hudson, Cassy Legg, Zach Helmstead, Bret Billings, and Brooke Johnson.

An asphalt overlay project on Sunflower Rd between Marion and US-50 and S. 3rd St. in Marion are near completion. The two-inch overlay is being partially paid for by Kansas Department of Transportation as compensation for county and city roads being used while US-77 was reconstructed.

Marion High School novice debate squad has qualified for the Sunflower State Debate at Washburn Rural in Topeka. Kayla Williams, Adam Palic, Louis Holt, Levi Anderson, and Sarah Guetersloh will participate.

The 18th annual community Thanksgiving dinner will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thanksgiving at Marion Middle School. The event is sponsored by Marion Ministerial Alliance.
