Santa Claus was busy ushering in the holiday season Sunday afternoon in Marion. Brandon Lange helped the jolly old elf draw names of winners in a fundraiser for a park committee. Audrey McLinden of Marion has won $100 in a Christmas Cash promotion.

A team representing Marion High School will participate in the 2007-08 Quest academic competition Dec. 1 at Washburn University. Students representing MHS will be Brett Billings, Sam Ehrlich, Landon Leiker, Derek Stuchlik, Matt Thierolf, and Eric Vogel. Doug Vogel is the team’s coach.

Marion Chamber of Commerce and local businesses have put together a children’s Christmas prize trailer, on display in the window of Suffield’s. Children up to age 14 may register for prizes that include a bicycle, a video gaming station, farm toys, a trampoline, dolls, inline skates, a scooter, gift certificates, and more.

Marion High School students Lauren Helmer, Landon Leiker, Jessica Vogel, and Hank and Lucy Collett have been chosen to participate Saturday in the South Central Music Educators Association concert at Wichita State University’s Miller Hall. Both Colletts and Helmer were chosen for the choir, Vogel for the orchestra, and Leiker for the band.
