All that some Marion County residents want for Christmas is electricity. But for some, that’s a wish that not even Santa may be able to grant. At last count, 750 to 1,000 homes in Marion County without power after an ice storm hit the county Dec. 10.
Justin Youk is pictured with a steel bridge he built for Chase County Country Club’s golf course. The bridge stretches almost half a block. Youk moved it from a building on Water St. in Marion and readied it for the trip to Chase County.
Last year, Judy Christensen contacted the Ronald McDonald House in Wichita, offering to decorate Christmas trees in memory of her grandson, Alex Christensen, who died in February 2006. She and Barbara Abbott of Marion donated trees and ornaments. They have been asked to return this year.
Emergency Medical Services director Steve Smith reports there were 74 ambulance runs in November, a slight increase from the previous month. Of those, 24 were medical emergencies, 16 were no-transports, 12 were falls, 10 were cardiac, six were transfers, four were motor vehicle accidents, and three were stand-bys
Physician Linda Skiles and nurse practitioner Nita Bittle will be seeing patients beginning Monday in their new offices at 504 S. Roosevelt St.
