In its first year, Marion County Toy Run attracted 30 to 35 participants. In the years since, the event has seen as many as 120 motorcycles and a dozen cars, organizer Kim Abrahams of rural Hillsboro said. “We’re trying to give as many kids a good Christmas as we can,” Abrahams said.

A new digital in-car camera recently was installed in a Marion police car. About one-half of the money for a second camera has been raised.

Callie Peterson of rural Marion is back at work at her hair salon. An accomplished equestrian and hair stylist, she continues to recover from a serious car accident that nearly claimed her life.

Marion High School cross-country runners Camille Christensen, Louis Holt, and Ryan Jones are headed for the Class 1-4A state cross-country meet Saturday at Wamego.

Members of the Father Kapaun Council of Knights of Columbus in Pilsen recently were recognized for their charitable activities and membership growth with a Star Council award. Only 13% of councils in Kansas achieve this recognition.
