Members of Marion Youth Advancement Committee and Marion Advancement Campaign are looking at another property for a youth center. Information will be presented to the city council at a future meeting.

An article in this issue tells how Keith Banman, owner of Keith’s Foods of Goessel, keeps his store open when other communities are having difficulties keeping theirs.

Rex Siebert is pictured as he introduces Don Hett to a crowd of Hereford enthusiasts at his Diamond X Ranch west of Marion. The ranch was the first stop Saturday on the 2009 Kansas Hereford Association tour. Siebert, 86, recently sold his seed stock to Hett.

Residents of St. Luke Living Center celebrated the start of school Tuesday by having “classes.” Florence Ehrlich and Lavera Bernhardt are pictured as the two spelled the word “vacation” during a spelling bee. Residents also had quizzes in math and geography.

Cheryl Stang’s garden is filled with flowers. She estimates 60% of the perennials have been transplanted twice, first from her home in Sedgwick, then from a farm near Marion to her home at 122 S. Cedar St. in Marion.
