The 14th annual Chingawassa Days will begin Friday with a community barbecue. An ice cream social will follow as will traditional bluegrass music and a performance by hypnotist Brad Clark.
Peabody Main Street Association and Peabody Economic Development announced Saturday that a Kansas City developer had purchased the historic five Baker buildings on the west side of Peabody’s Main St.
Marion-Florence school district was host for a reception May 26 for six teachers who are retiring at the end the year. Included were Jan Davis, art, 23 years; Mary Griffith, language arts, drama, and debate, 26 years; Anita Hancock, music, 21 years; Marj Sandberg, fifth and sixth grade math, 35 years; Doug Vogel, guidance counselor and special education, 22 years; and Wanda Williams, kindergarten and librarian, 26 years.
It’s been more than 50 years since Lincolnville had its own high school, but alumni of the school meet every three years to keep its memory alive. At least 61 graduates, 33 spouses, and 21 guests attended a reunion Saturday at Lincolnville Community Center.
