Marion County commissioners questioned the fairness of a state fire marshal ruling that the county jail may hold only four inmates unless a 24-hour fire watch is provided. Commissioners also heard a proposal from Chris and Heather Holub to build rental cabins west of the heated dock at Marion County Park and Lake.
Antelope native Justin Garrard won four first-place medals last month at Sunflower State Games in Topeka. He is a graduate of Centre High School and Ottawa University. His parents are John and Sandra Garrard of Antelope.
Ten people were injured Friday when a violent thunderstorm packing 60-mph winds swept across Marion Reservoir and flipped over three recreational vehicles in a campground at Cottonwood Point. All were treated at area hospitals and had been released by Saturday.
