St. Luke Hospital has surpassed $1 million in its fundraising to provide additional enhancements for its renovation project. These include an addition to the physical therapy department and improvements to the emergency and operating rooms.
Mary Beth Bowers of rural Marion is pictured turning a crank of an antique corn sheller at Marion Elementary School as part of fourth-grade studies of the Oregon and Santa Fe trails. Students also were able to ride in a “prairie wagon” that her father bought in the 1950s.
Chris Costello traveled to Croatia in June for a two-week vacation at the invitation of his brother, Pat, who spent six weeks in Kosovo as part of an American Bar Association program. Costello said he found Croatia “an unexpected delight.”
Freshman Timothy Knolla is this week’s Marion County Record athlete of the week.

Senior citizens from around the county gathered at Marion Senior Center to celebrate the 50th year of Senior Citizens of Marion County. Past directors, board members, and those considered pioneers in the organization were recognized.
