Marion County Planning Commission voted Monday to recommend approval for a wind farm south of Marion. Rex Savage of Windborne Energy has applied for a conditional-use permit for a wind farm of up to 79 turbines in an area bounded by 140th and Pawnee Rds. and US-50 and 77.

Senior Adam Cope and sophomore Elizabeth Goentzel have been selected by Marion High School faculty and staff as October students of the month.

The Mark Johnson home at 2175 US-56 is among four homes in the Marion area that will be part of the Candy Cane Christmas home tour Nov. 28 by Marion City Library. Decorations will have a Western theme recalling the days of Lisa Johnson’s grandfather, rancher Paul Handle of Burns.
