Kansas Department of Health and Environment has announced that influenza cases have been confirmed in Kansas,. No cases are confirmed cases locally, but residents are encouraged by the local health department to get flu shots especially before traveling for the holidays.

Seniors wanting to get their leaves raked should call or sign up at the senior center. Marion High School students will be raking Nov. 20 as a community service project.

Homes on the Christmas home tour Nov. 28 are those of Andy and Staci Hansen, Jerome and Donna Hajek, Mike and Kathy Ehrlich, and Mark and Lisa Johnson. The tour will include a Christmas village display provided by Mary Jeffrey at Valley United Methodist Church.

Marion High School football players named to the Heart of America all-league first team include David Helmer, Dakin Ledford, Dillon Richmond, Les Riggs, and Connor Thierolf.

Technical Sergeant Shad Winter, son of Joan and Earl Winter of Marion, and his wife, Technical Sergeant Tracy Winter, are serving overseas — Shad in Afghanistan and Tracy in Kuwait. Tracy’s father has moved from Ohio to Wichita to care for the couple’s three sons — Cody, 11; Justin, 8; and Austin, 3 — until their mother returns home in six months.
