Marion County commissioners voted Monday to approve a conditional-use permit for a wind farm proposed by Rex Savage of Windborne Energy, rural Florence. The county’s planning commission had received no unfavorable letters or public comments, but some unfavorable comments were made at Monday’s meeting.

Nine teams, 32 singles, 16 doubles, and 25 all-event players participated Nov. 6 and 7 in a tournament at SherBowl Lanes, Marion. Scratch winners were: team, SherBowl Lanes; women’s singles, Sonya Morse; men’s singles, Ryan Morse; doubles, Marty Bell and Kenny Remmers; all events, women, S. Morse; and men, R. Morse.

The 17th annual Marion County Toy Run was a big success with 120 motorcycles, 10 classic cars, and a vintage fire truck plus a trailer full of bicycles for kids.

Marion native and longtime resident Roger W. Hannaford III was named president-elect of Kansas Land Title Association at its annual convention Aug. 14 in Overland Park.
