Peggy Blackman, coordinator for the WRAPS project at Marion Lake watershed, spoke Thursday to Marion Lions Club about serious sediment problems at Marion Reservoir.

Travis Hett, Marion High School junior, led the Warriors in scoring 18 points Friday against Ellinwood and has been named this week’s Marion County Record athlete of the week.

Members of St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary recently received a first dollar of profit plaque from Marion Chamber of Commerce. Centre High School’s 2006 homecoming king and queen are Bryant Gutsch, son of Scott and Sharon Gutsch, Lincolnville, and Krista Heiser, daughter of Mark and Kathy Heiser, Tampa.

Marion County Lake was host to an unusual guest this past month — an American white pelican. The birds migrate through the Midwest but typically live further south during the winter.
