A vicious storm Friday evening blew through Marion County damaging trees and buildings and knocking out power. Residents cleaned up branches and debris Saturday with a steady stream of vehicles traveling to the city’s tree dump.
Seven- and eight-year-old members of the Central National Bank baseball team include Nathan Baldwin, Wesley Dick, Taylor Fahey, Peyton Heidebrecht, Joel Jirak, Calvin Montgomery, Corbin Montgomery, and Mason Pedersen.
Members of the 5- and 6-year-old Marion Manufacturing T-ball team are Kourtney Hansen, Drew Helmer, Katie Marler, Samantha Richmond, Karly Park, and Emma Spachek.
Marion Manufacturing won the city’s business of the year award Monday evening at a Marion City Council meeting. It was one of the 14 businesses nominated. The fabricating business has been a part of the Marion community since 1979.
Lisa Buchholz has joined her parents, Marlin and Debbie Buchholz, owners of Marion Healthmart Pharmacy, for the summer after graduating with a pharmacy degree from the University of Kansas.
Thirty Marion children are participating in this year’s children’s theatre performance of “Shakespeare Goes to Gravel Gulch” or “The Villain Drove a Bard Bargain.”
