Cub Scouts of Pack 102 participated Monday evening in a rubber band gun shoot-off. The boys made their guns and tested their accuracy by trying to hit Styrofoam “cans and bottles” for varying number of points. Charlie Helmer won a trophy for the best-designed gun and John Wheeler won a trophy for the most points.

Paul Loney, a native of Marion, has been accepted for admission to the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Loney of Beloit, formerly of Marion.

Residents of Marion County are bring advised this week that pilots for the Air Force reserve unit at Richards-Gebaur AFB, Mo., will be flying low over the area. The pilots generally fly between 300 to 1,500 feet and at speeds less than 250 miles per hour.

Bart Eskeldson and Jane Costello were declared Homecoming king and queen Friday night in a pregame ceremony before the Cougars faced Manhattan Luckey.
