Marion City Building had its complexion scrubbed recently by Doug Von Felt, from Topeka. Von Felt applies a chemical to the limestone that reacts to the lime and dissolves the grungy, dark algae that grows and dies on the stone. He has cleaned a number of buildings in Marion.

Mark Raleigh, sophomore at MHS, and Sue Webb are this week’s Warriors of the Week. Mark is a member of the track team coached by Rex Wilson. Sue is one of the top setters on the MHS volleyball team. Coach Jim Versch says her setting and all-around performances have been a welcome addition to the team.

Grace Jost Utting, R.N., Marion County Health Nurse, has been selected by the Business and Professional women’s clubs of Marion and Hillsboro to receive the “Woman of the Year” award for 1985.

Queen candidates for MHS homecoming activities, to be held at halftime Friday evening, are Robin Wineinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wineinger, Rolana Ludwig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Ludwig, and Sue Webb, daughter of Jack Webb. Football player escorts will be Ryan Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Vogel, Brent Hayen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Hayen, and Travis Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyndon Hett.

Claire Fruechting, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Fruechting, has been named to the advisory board of ERISCO, Inc., a large software firm in New York City.
