Harlow Warneke is pictured on the front page of this issue putting the finishing touch to a brightly painted Indian warrior sign which identifies “The Chief” Marion’s new private club which will open Saturday. The grand opening will be for members only, no guests.
Carol Caselman Mogensen of Albuquerque, N.M., and Richard L. Maggard of Marion were married Oct. 19 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Taylor of Albuquerque.
All the Marion High School cross-county runners are “Warriors of the Week.” The team took third place Saturday in regional competition in Ottawa and will go to the state meet in Manhattan this Saturday. The runners are Dale Heidebrecht, Lane Allison, Mike Bina, Mark Raleigh, Greg Tice, Shane Holub, Troy Thrasher, and Carl Abbott. Rex Wilson is their coach.
Denise Sellers, a seven-year member of Jayhawk 4-H Club at Florence, was selected as a national winner in the “Speaking of Horticulture” competition Oct. 25 to 28 at the National Junior Horticultural Association in Lexington, Ky. A sophomore at Marion High School, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sellers of Florence.
