Fifty concerned citizens of the community gathered Sept. 10 to discuss economic conditions and trends, and to plan for future development. Martin Tice, president of Marion Chamber of Commerce, initiated the meeting. Mayor Peggy Blackman and Marion County RECORD editor Bill Meyer assisted Tice in moderating the meeting.
Marion High School FFA chapter will announce its chapter sweetheart Friday night at halftime of the Marion-Little River football game. Candidates are Cerece Smith, Raquel Allison, Joan Vinduska, and Jennifer Stinchcomb.
Stan Utting of Tampa had a hole-in-one shot pay off a little more than acclaim from fellow golfers Sept. 22 when he won a 1985 Ford mini-van valued at $13,000. Utting made the hole-in-one at the American Cancer Society Benefit tournament at Salina Country Club.
The following babies were delivered at St. Luke Hospital this week: Karson Lynelle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Craig of Marion; Kevin Joseph, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Waner of Peabody; and Rebecca Dalene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Blair Tharp of Marion. All three were born Sept. 17.
The Marion County Courthouse buckles have arrived and are ready to be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce office.
