Marion county commissioners, after an early morning inspection tour of the new road department warehouse in Marion, agreed to accept the building. Flaming Metal Systems of Peabody will be paid $33,790 for building the heavy equipment storage building on North Coble. Winning bid for wiring of the warehouse for electricity went to Elcon Services of Hillsboro.
Four pairs of seniors are in the running to wear the king and queen crowns during ceremonies at the Centre High School homecoming basketball game on Friday. The candidates are Monte Frantz and Kim Nickel, Todd Bevan and Janet Kristek, Kent Remmers and Sherri Tajchman, Kirk Watt and Jo Ellen Vinduska.
Kansas Drilling won the 25th annual Marion Men’s Bowling Tournament that concluded during the weekend at MarBowl Lanes. Team members are Danny Rudolph, Bob Winter, Gary Barker, Jim Mareda, and Jim Rudolph.
Kelley Enos, a senior at Marion High School, was named basketball homecoming queen during half-time ceremonies Saturday. She is the daughter of Phyllis and Eugene Enos. Her escort was Michael Bina, son of Laverne and Harriet Bina.
The Marion County Emergency Food Bank recently received a $328 donation from the Christian Rural Overseas Program. The organization returned to the community part of the money raised in last year’s CROP walk.
