Businessman Martin Tice became Mayor Tice at 3:20 p.m. Monday, following Tuesday’s city election when he was selected to succeed Peggy Blackman who stepped down from the position after nine years in office.

The Depot Youth Center will hold its grand opening at 7 p.m. April 25. All teen-agers in the Marion-Florence area are being invited to purchase memberships to join the center. The annual dues will be $12.

Stephen D. Cranston, M.D., has announced a new policy for those who desire appointments for surgical consultation at his office in Marion. The board certified surgeon has an office in St. Luke Medical Clinic and may be reached for appointments by calling the St. Luke Hospital operator.

Announcement is made this week of the engagement and approaching marriage of Amy JoAnn Tollefson of Lecompton to Douglas Willard Kjellin of Marion. The wedding date is set for May 31 at the Free Methodist Church in McPherson.
