The city of Marion is currently taking bids for the construction of a new building to house the cable TV equipment. Earl Hurst of Osage City, proposed purchaser of the city’s cable antenna system, plans to move the equipment away from the city-county radio equipment currently located in the old cable building.

Jayson Hanschu, a Ramona native and junior at Friends University, will serve an internship this summer at the Marion County Record. The communications major will serve as a reporter and photographer.

April Ogden and Mike Wheeler hosted a Mexican dinner party at the D.W. Wheeler home Saturday following the Marion High School junior-senior prom. Invited guests were Raquel Allison, Jason Bina, Galen Camp of Hesston, Nancy Carr, Deanna Connell, Brian Cramer, Brian Dannenfelser, Kenny Fowler, Dale Heidebrecht, Roger Hudlin, Tim Jordan, Stacey Long, Chantal Nienstedt, Troy Thrasher, Brad Tice, Greg Tice, Tim Trowbridge, and Joan Vinduska.

Marion High School teacher Rex Wilson and Principal Robert Brock received awards from the University of Kansas during the school board meeting Monday evening for 25 years of service to education.

Tobias Dirks, official weather observer for Durham, was recently presented a 20-year service award by the National Weather Service.

Jessica Tajchman of Lincolnville has been awarded a scholarship to Kansas State University. Tajchman received a $1,200 College of Agriculture alumni scholarship.
