Marion will celebrate its 75th annual Old Settlers’ Day on Sept. 27. The festival is sponsored by Marion Kiwanis Club with Bill Nelsen as the general chairman.
Curtis Smalley and his wife, Marilyn, have re-opened the former Dine-Inn Café on Main Street under the name of C & M Restaurant. Smalley has been operating a restaurant under the same name at Emporia for three years. The Marion establishment is his first branch effort.
This club year marks the 50th anniversary of Coterie Club and members are planning a number of special activities to celebrate the event.
MHS Class of 1966 held a 20th anniversary reunion Aug. 23 at the home of Darold Longhofer. Twenty-seven former classmates spent an enjoyable evening reminiscing and renewing friendships. Those present were Wally Slusser, Toni McElwain Loewen, Loretta Smith Childs, Bob Good, Cheri Bell Corn, Pat Warneke Elling, Dennis Conyers, Stan May, Norman Bowers, Vern Kelsey, Norman Alexander, John Schmersey, Dennis Maggard, Beth Thole Rowe, Sharon Endres Raleigh, LaVonda Hett Rothman, Barbara Musgrave Lawson, Janice Childs Brock, Bob Hoch, Judy Pankratz Carpenter, Blair Post, Harold Bezdek, Ken Cook, Jim Ottensmeier, Dean Jost, Walter Hein and the host, Darold Longhofer.
