Newly installed Marion County officials were sworn into office Monday morning. The first baby of 1985 arrived Saturday morning at St. Luke Hospital as Christopher Lee Britt made his appearance into the world. Christopher was born at 9:07 a.m. by Caesearian section. He is the son of Roberta and Kevin Britt of Florence.

Eugene Enos, principal of Marion Elementary and Bown Corby schools, has been presented the coveted Silver Beaver Award, highest award given to adult volunteers in Scouting.

A winter storm Tuesday night and Wednesday morning dumped about six inches of snow on Marion.

Bishop Mark K. Carroll, 88, retired bishop of Wichita, died Saturday at St. Joseph Medical Center where he had resided since 1977.
