Eight women who described themselves as “concerned working mothers” appeared before the Marion City Commission Monday afternoon. They believe the community should take a more active role—including financial support—to establish a day-care center in Marion. The center would serve preschool age children.

Ern Hett of Marion will be recognized as “Kansas Artist of the Year” Friday when his work will be on display at the State Capitol in Topeka. Hett is widely known for his ability to make unusual and interesting art objects from scrap metal.

Ronnie Eilerts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Eilerts of Peabody, is featured in the March 1985 issue of Bowhunter magazine in an article about hunting pronghorn antelope near Casper, Wyo.
