Barry McWilliams, the artist who produces “J.P. Doodles” editorial cartoons for the Marion County Record, presented a program Thursday to students at Marion Elementary School. The artist gave the youngsters a drawing lesson using sixth-grader Richard Harris as a model, dressed as the cartoon character J.P. Doodles.

Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Kansas Bureau of Investigation are investigating the apparent murder of Shelly A. Prine, 22, a Goessel resident.

Homemade ice cream and a Sailor Bear cake were served as refreshments at the home of Gary and Joella Hett Sunday in honor of the first birthday of their son, Jared.

Kimberly Buethe, a junior animal science major at Kansas State University, was named “student of the month” in October. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Buethe of Lincolnville.

Sixth graders of Marion Elementary School decorated pumpkins for Halloween. Pictured showing off the festive autumn fruit are Kris Groening, Sherry Lange, Amy Christensen, Lisa Harbison, Lesley Sieger, and Kristine Batemen.

Ten Tampa senior citizens, and their driver, Kathy Utting, toured the Garden of Eden in Lucas last week.
