Members of Area IV of Kansas Campers Association will hold their annual early spring campout in Marion this weekend. The event is being hosted by the 14 families of the Marionettes Camping Club of Marion. Morris N. and Sue Ehrlich, co-presidents of the local group, estimate more than 100 camping units are expected to be parked at Marion Athletic Field on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
The community of Ramona will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its founding on May 24 and 25, Memorial Day weekend. Co-chairmen of the planning committee are Paula Fike and Irene Klover.
Marion Manufacturing president Jack Richmond announced Friday that a 60’ x100’ steel building is being constructed south of the company’s present structure to house a new operation. The company has a contract with Smith & Smith Aircraft to construct parts for airplane disc brakes, Richmond explained.
Edna Andres plays the organ and at the same time directs the choir on Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peabody. Andres is the featured musician in the week’s Organist Series.
David Hett, senior, and Randy Brock, junior, have been named to the first team of the Cottonwood Valley all-league basketball team. Chris Vinduska and Dean Baldwin, both juniors, were selected to the second team. Lady Warrior junior Sheri Bina made the girls’ second team.
