A vintage ice cream fountain from a Peabody store has been moved to Marion. The Larry Larsons have installed the ice cream parlor at Country Charm, a gift/craft shop on Main Street in Marion.

Officials from Marion County Lake discussed plans with Marion County Commissioners Monday for a proposed sewer system. The lakeside community has a good chance of getting two federal grants to pay most of the construction expenses.

Five Marion County girls competed last week at the Tri- County Junior Miss Contest. They were Robin Pritz and Diann Stuchlik of Lost Springs, Kristi Herbel of Tampa, and Angie Carlson and Susie Peterson of Burdick. Peterson won “Spirit of Junior Miss” and “Youth Fitness” awards. She is the daughter of Dan and Linda Peterson, Burdick.

Kodi Sader and Randy Kelsey were married June 6 in a double ring ceremony at Marion Christian Church.

Steve Hett of Marion is pictured with 95 pounds of carp he shot with an arrow while bow fishing at a local creek. The sharpshooter also bagged more than 100 pounds of rough fish on Friday.

George Kristek, owner of George’s Market in Tampa, has announced the sale of the grocery store to Frank and Jan Moffitt of Tampa.

The wheat harvest got off to a fine start with hot, dry weather, but became bogged down recently due to wet weather.
