City of Marion commissioners have signed an agreement to purchase 10.7 acres from Mable Matz to construct an expansion to the sewer lagoon system south of town on Third Street. Price of the property was agreed upon at $10, 700.

A state trooper trainee has been assigned to Marion County. Gary Warner is riding with Trooper Rob Craft of the Kansas Highway Patrol. Upon graduation, the rookie trooper is expected to be assigned to Marion County and begin patrolling Nov. 1.

Double ring wedding vows were exchanged July 25 by Melanie Dawn Conyers and David Wesley Northcutt. The Rev. Gerry Sharp officiated at the ceremony in Eastmoor United Methodist Church.

Waldo E. Unruh of Goessel won the VCR Saturday, grand prize in a contest sponsored by Aid Association for Lutherans Chapter 2798 of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion. He is pictured as he receives his prize from Lois Jane Johnson, club secretary. A nativity scene is being purchased with contest contributions.

Patty Jeffrey, whose marriage to David Kahle of Herington will take place Sept. 5, was the honored guest Aug. 14 at a miscellaneous bridal shower at Valley United Methodist Church.

Descendants of Frank and Frances Hajek held their third reunion Aug. 9 in the Marion City Building.
