Brothers Dale, 18, Matt, 14, and Scott, 11, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Peterson, of south of Marion, participated in the Little Britches World Championship Rodeo held Aug. 15-22 at Colorado Springs. Out of 76 teams participating in the team-roping category, Dale and Matt took first place. Their brother Scott, in his first year of competition, finished in eighth place in dally ribbon roping.
Kenneth Rigler, former Marion City Commissioner, is recovering from a heart transplant operation. The surgery was performed Aug. 15 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Puppet master Doug Sonntag of Garnett will be one of several entertainment groups at the evening program of the Labor Day observance in Florence.
Linda Loney, M.D., daughter of James and Leona Loney of rural Marion, has been named clinical director of pediatrics at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton, Mass.
A co-ed softball tournament was held in Lincolnville over the weekend as a benefit for Steve Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Olsen. The Pilsen Stompers were first place winners. In second place was the Pilsen Go-Getters team. Third place went to the Lincolnville-Ramona team. The Burdick church team and Pilsen Chargers also participated. The weekend benefit was sponsored by the Lutheran Aid Association and included a hog roast Saturday evening.
