Marion Ogden, who has taught in Marion Unified School District 408 for the past 14 years, is the subject this week of the “Teacher Profile” by John Burke, superintendent of schools.
Residents of Marion Manor gathered a truckful of reconditioned and new toys for needy children. The toys will be handed out at the Food Bank upon referrals by the welfare office and ministers of the county.
A crowd estimated at 200 people took the Christmas Tour of Homes Sunday, sponsored by St. Luke Boosters. Following the event, refreshments were served in the new fellowship hall at the Presbyterian church.
A house moving in Marion hindered traffic along Main Street for several hours Thursday morning. Schmidt Brothers House Moving Company of Galva was transporting the former Lydia Jarvis home from the 100 block of North Lincoln Street to Lehigh.
The Marion High School boys’ basketball team won the Chapman basketball tournament last weekend. Three of the Warriors, Randy Brock, Chris Vinduska, and Mike Helmer are pictured with the first place trophy. Brock was named most valuable player in the tournament. Vinduska and Helmer were named to the all tournament team.
