Marion County Commissioners Charles DeForest, Leon Suderman, and Lucille Britain spent part of Monday morning rearranging files at the commission’s conference table. DeForest moved to the center position after being elected chairman. Britain was named vice-chairman.
Brittany Dawn Bailey, daughter of Tassie Britton of Florence, was the first baby of 1990 born at St. Luke Hospital. Brittany made her debut at 7:52 a.m. Jan.6. She weighed six pounds five ounces and was 19.5 inches long.
A surprise party was held New Year’s Day at the home of Charles and Virginia Heerey in honor of Charles’ retirement from the U.S. Postal Service.

Michael Bina attended a Chicago Bulls basketball game Friday and during the game was selected to participate in a shootout with another spectator to see who could hit an NBA 3-point shot. Mike scored first as 18,000 spectators cheered. He was presented with a t-shirt and a telephone from AT&T, sponsor of the contest.
