Marion’s annual Harvest Moon Festival will be held this weekend, Friday through Sunday, featuring the Kansas National Boat Racing Championships. The two-day festival kicks off with an old-fashioned minstrel show at 8 p.m. Friday on Central Park Stage.
The 40th anniversary of James and Maxine Vogel was celebrated with a family dinner and reception on Sunday. James Vogel and Maxine Royer were married Aug. 4, 1950, in Muscotah.
Births announced in this week’s edition include Samuel James, son of 1st Lt. Greg and Jennifer Boyle, Tucson, Arizona, born July 8; Gavin Mitchell, son of Bruce and Diedre Serene, Hillsboro, born July 14; and Carroll Ann, daughter of Dr. Mike and Gail Moore, Florence, born July 26.
Mrs. Charles Heerey was in Wichita Sunday to attend a miscellaneous shower honoring her daughter, Cindy Heerey.
Rocky Hett was honored Friday evening at Kingfisher’s Inn for his contributions to conservation of ducks and other wild birds. Hett was among six Kansans who were recognized by Duck’s Unlimited.
Andrew Thomas Bina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bina of Lincolnville, won first place in the 18-month to two-year-old division of the Salina Jaycee Jayne’s Baby Beauty contest held Sunday at Mid-State Mall in Salina.
