At this month’s Chamber of Commerce meeting Mayor Gerry Harris presented plaques of appreciation to Jerry Kline and Bill Gahan of Martin-Marietta Aggregates, Justin Groening, Jared Herzet, and Mark Meyer of Marion High School FFA, and Doug Steadry and Richard Cox of Flint Hills Resource Conservation and Development for their help in creating new ball diamonds at the athletic field.

Marion native Carla Stovall will announce her candidacy for Kansas Attorney General at a rally Monday in Marion. Stovall, daughter of Carl and Juanita Stovall of Marion, will make the announcement at 5:30 p.m. Monday in Stone City Café.

Becky Swan, senior at Marion High School, has been selected as Student of the Month by the school’s faculty. The daughter of Paul and Kathy Swan of Marion, she plans to attend Kansas State University and enter veterinary studies.

Mary Costello led a scavenger hunt during the Oct. 4 meeting of 20th Century Club. The club met at the home of Janet Zeiner then divided into groups. They were given a list of problems to solve by driving the streets of Marion to find the answers. Hostesses Zeiner, Costello, and Terri Colburn served refreshments after the hunt.

The 1968 graduating class of Marion High School met over the Labor Day weekend for a class reunion with 32 members of the class attending the activities. A dinner was held at Marion Country Club followed by an evening of visiting and entertainment.
