Roads and residences in rural Marion County will soon have names and addresses.

The addressing is happening because the county expects to have enhanced 911 emergency telephone services around September 1995.

The enhanced service uses computers to tell 911 dispatchers where emergency calls come from and addresses are needed for all rural properties.

Dan Crumrine is pictured as he shows off the 29-inch cucumber he grew in his garden at 20 Lakeshore Drive at the Marion County Lake.

Second graders from Ginger Becker’s class and their parents heard a talk about canoeing by former Marion Elementary School principal Eugene Enos on Friday. The students were on a field trip to the county lake to learn about canoeing after studying the book, “Three Days on a River in a Red Canoe.”

Jennifer Thole, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jon Thole of Marion, has been selected by the Big 8 Conference as a Service Bureau intern. She is working on a graduate degree in sports administration at the University of Kansas and has worked in the Kansas Sports Information office for four years.
